End of an Era: Visiting Boh Geh Uncle Canteen One Last Time

Sitting outdoor under the trees As bus 117 rolled through Seletar, Singapore's modern aerospace hub, I took a moment to just look out the window and enjoy the unusually serene greenery. My destination was 398 Piccadilly,  home to the legendary Boh Geh Uncle Canteen or Canteen 398 . I wouldn't have rushed down this week if not for my dad. He had forwarded a picture of the canteen from a friend's group chat with a urgent reminder: 'Go visit and record down the place before it's gone!' Since I live nearby, I knew I couldn't miss out (or FOMO maybe). With their last day of operation officially set for 18 September 2026 , I headed out on its final week to experience this rustic piece of history for the first and one last time on 14 September 2026 . Food Review | Dian Xiao Er is GOOD!

Our all time fav 十全烤鸭 - Very Good!
The herbal smell cum taste from the duck and sauce is overwhelming. I superb like this. A bowl of rice is not enough because we always accompany the rice with the sauce. A must have on every table.

Baby kailan - Good!

For healthy eating, best to have a vegetable dish. Is insane to have all those nice yet sinful food into our stomach. The Kailan is crunchy.

My all time fav 黄金豆腐 - Excellent! 

This dish certainly never short-change us. Apart from having broccoli, the tofu is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. U taste lots of different ingredient used in making the tofu. Why so nice?

Latest  金沙 prawns - Excellent taste!
Last but not least, this prawns is a must-have too if you are not allergic to prawns. They used superb fresh prawns and is juicy too. 

 Dian Xiao Er nv before fail us wheneva we dine in, whether with my guy or family, all dishes are good. Worth paying that price. My latest visit is at Marina Square outlet. UOB credit card gets $5 dining voucher when you pay for your bill with it.
