Food Review | Collin's

Because Mister said since now 2 pax dine-in still in place (as of 19 Oct 2021), better go now for a dinner before the crowd comes back when the restriction is lifted. Both of us hate long queue and waiting. We would be trying out Collin's for the first time and hopefully the food could meet our minimum expectations. Mister didn't really like western food that much but for the sake of that ribeye steak, he obliged.
Mango and Mixed Fruit Juice
$4 each

Smoked Duck Salad
$9

New found love. The smoked duck was a generous slice and tender. Mixing up with the salad in calamansi dressing, perfect match from heaven. Now I know what to have if I ever dine out with my friends at Collin's without failing my diet. Actually all the salads were doable, just eliminate those with croutons, potato and so on.
Cajun Fries
$5

Totally my cheat day with this Cajun Fries that's a must-have for me. It was good and crispy. If it wasn't for sharing, I could finish all on my own. Wow... it has been long since I had fries. The feeling was excellent.
Button Shrooms Escargot
$14

Totally got no feelings for this dish. Maybe I had once at another restaurant and it was better. The garlicky taste wasn't enough (although there was a piece of garlic bread that came with it). Read my past post here and also here. 2 food reviews from other places.
Baked French Foie Gras
$19

This had changed my view of Foie Gras. Why a sunny side-up? Lots of question marks. The mushrooms to go with was fine but the sunny side-up, a little so out. Anyway it was mediocre but still we finished every bits. I needed my protein from my exercise so the sunny side-up came just right. Not that I agreed that it should go with Foie Gras ya.
Australian Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye Steak
$78

Once the steak was served, you would be asked to cut the steak to check if the done-ness was as requested (Mister asked for Medium done) and it was just right (you would see the redness from within). Next time I shall have my steak in Medium done too.
The soft texture, not much of tendon (even if there was, it melted in your mouth), really a good piece on its own and also with the sauce. Of course lah. $78 for this piece and if it wasn't, Mister would get it from me. Though he did mentioned there would have better ones out there depending on the price range but this captured his taste palate.
And it was our first time having Potato Au Gratin that came with the steak. It was very buttery, creamy and actually didn't get much of potato taste though. Was it supposed to be this way?
Minimized the guilt of Keto Cheat day as I gave him the garlic bread in exchange of his vegetables.
Apple Crumble
$9

A tad too sweet (if not, why was it even called a Dessert, right?) but vanilla ice cream saved us a little from getting diabetes. Managed to wash our mouth with sweetness after a savoury meal. Not bad overall and I'm considering to make myself at home.
Although there would be better restaurants out there to serve the similar food, but Collin's could be one too. Overall, we loved their Smoked Duck Salad, Cajun Fries and that $78 Ribeye Steak. Did you peeps realize our choices? Sort of pocket-friendly atas food (escargot, foie gras) except that Ribeye Steak of course, though there can be more expensive ones. So what will your choice be at Collin's? Apologies for no pasta or even rice in this review. No carbs for me (ya I know that cajun fries is a no-no too).
Visit one of their restaurants near you. North, South, East, West all have. Look it up for yourself on their website: https://www.collins.sg/ as they are not new in Singapore anymore. Most of you must have come across Collin's. Enjoy.
