Unboxing Taiwanese Products Part 1 | Lifestyle

I'm gonna share with you peeps my Taiwanese products purchased from FB Live. Whenever the word 'Taiwan' popped out, I will be very interested. I watch and see if there is anything I wanna buy and try, then pick those that I will buy again when we can travel to Taiwan.

TAIWAN TEA
MULBERRY $8.50 for 15 teabags (FB Live Price)
LOTUS $5.50 for 15 teabags (FB Live Price)

Bought this specially for Mister because the host said that Mulberry Tea is good for those who can't sleep well at night (a.k.a insomnia). Well... have bought all sort of Chamomile teas for him like M&S, Twinings and even TWG. Some helps. But still depends on the person. No conducive environment (tv on so loud) and not cultivating sleep early and always on the phone looking at FB or Pinterest, how to sleep well? Anyway, he said it felt like any other tea he had although it has the lavender taste and the colour is darker than the rest. (As of 12 Nov 2021, it isn't effective for him after finishing the whole pack)

The taste of Lotus Tea felt like those I bought from Vietnam in my last trip. A very light taste with a hint of lotus leaf. And it was said to help lose weight. I was convinced and bought 2 packs to try with the Mister. Let's see how it goes.

Fu Yuan Peanuts Butter 花生酱
$9 (FB Live Price)

I saw it online and it was said to be the best peanut butter in Taiwan by the Taiwanese themselves. So I just have to try. Since I couldn't have bread to spread on, I did it on my home-baked keto muffins.

You could find the nutty bits and a layer of oil on the surface before you start mixing it altogether. The peanut butter was thick, rich and melts in your mouth. Although Mister finds it sweet, now I know it goes well with my home-baked muffins. Perfect 👍. I kept them in the fridge and it didn't harden like some other brands of peanut butter. Probably because of the oil content. Will suit ny keto bread too.

Peanut Butter and Black Sesame & Five Grains Sandwich Wafer
$6.50 each (FB Live Price)

Had them for my breakfast. There were 2 pieces in each pack. Concluded that both were nice to have and at least 3-4 packs to fill your stomach for breakfast. Trial and tested. The taste for both were on point although it was just morsel of that peanut butter and black sesame taste. I couldn't get the Five grain taste but more of black sesame.

Steam Cook Noodles
$7 for 10 packs (FB Live Price)

Since we still have a pot of 卤汁 (braised sauce), Mister wanted to do a 干捞面 (dry noodles) with this Steam Cook Noodles. The texture was good especially QQ (springy) and we both loved it. 维力,要赞助我们吗? 你们家的面很不错吃.

Oh I cheat on my Keto Diet again. For the sake of reviews. Sigh.... have to go running again.

Cooked 3 packs in the boiling water. While doing so, Mister was mixing is chili concoction as usual. This is his forte because spiciness boost his appetite plus he is a spicy lover.

Then he mixed the chilli and noodles together. Half way through, he added more shallot oil, his new found love.

He added the braised sauce first, garnished with scallions and fried shallots, before assembling the bowl. He is kind of good in plating, better than me.

And here we have our homecooked 卤肉面. In Taiwan, the most common food will be 卤肉饭. But I love noodles more.

Then I did a normal fried noodles it. When you can't decide on noodles or beehoon for breakfast, have both and enjoy the best of both world. I know I repeat that many times in other Taiwan posts but I really can't wait to fly there again.

Dong He Noodles (4 packs/set) - Dan Dan
$10.50 (FB Live Price)

The texture of the noodles wasn't our liking. We did the same way as the Steam Cook Noodles, cooked in boiling water but just didn't get that springy-ness. Added all the seasonings given in one pack and also mushrooms to go with. The taste was spicy overall and at some point, a little bitterness. Usually Mister must have 2 packs of noodles in order to fill him up but this time he actually can't finish because he feels jelak.

XO Flying Fish Sauce (280G)
$19 (FB Live Price)

Added the sauce to our Fried Rice. Probably Mister did not put enough, which he said he put 1 tbsp of it. Or the taste coming from the fried rice itself overpowered the XO sauce. But he said there was a hint of aftertaste when we finished, the umami taste. Next time, 2 tbsp. Shall update again.

If you are asking why our fried rice is red in colour, thanks to our homemade Char Siew that we added in. Tinted by its colouring.

Taiwan Fermented Beancurd (1kg)
$23 (FB Live Price)

I mixed and ate with porridge. It has a sweet and fermented taste (like alcohol taste). Used to think that it would be salty. Not bad if you wanna have something light. Kind of perfect to go with rice or porridge, especially when you don't have appetite.

So now I can conclude that Steam Cook Noodles and Peanut Butter will be my repeat purchase the next time. The Sandwich wafers taste normal but if it is cheaper, I will buy again as my breakfast at work (not snacks and no snacks for me pls). Hopefully when I'm finished with them, we can travel again too. I need doses of Taiwan first before other countries. Cheers.
