Welcome to the last bits of my Switzerland adventure in Zurich. You must have peeped at my previous posts starting from Italy to Mount Titlis, Switzerland. If you haven't, how can you? All the beautiful photos I wanna share with all of you through my eyes. Okay... I leave the links to the blog posts below for your convenience.
Let's get started on our arrival in Zurich. At the drop-off point, we saw this castle-like red building across the street. I couldn't take my eyes off that building (the turn-head rate is high though). Googled about this building but did not have much of info and only managed to know it was called Rotes Schloss.

Walking down by the Lake Zurich towards Old Town. Saw lots of people chilling out by the lake and many yachts docking at the marina. And there was like a carnival going on for Sechseläuten and so you would see random stalls along the street (maybe) with drinks stalls and sausage stalls (my favorite) which we bought and try. It was juicy and tender.

We were in Zurich on 17 April 2023 and there was a celebration going on for the traditional spring festival called Sechseläuten. It is celebrated in the city of Zurich, Switzerland and its origins can be traced back to the Middle Ages.
⭐Fun Fact: The significant cultural festival is marked by a procession of costumed guild members who march through the streets of Zurich. The highlight of this festival is the burning of the Böögg, a large snowman effigy made of wood and cloth, that symbolizes the end of winter and the beginning of spring. People from all over Switzerland come to witness the colorful procession and the burning of the Böögg.

⭐INTERESTING FACTS: The Böögg is filled with explosives and mounted on top of a bonfire. The time it takes for the head of the Böögg to explode and fall off is said to predict the weather for the coming summer. A fast burning Böögg means a warm and sunny summer, while a slow burning Böögg means a cold and rainy summer.
For more about this festival and procession, watch the latest video on my Youtube Channel at the end of this post. You will see how crowded the old town is and us watching the burning of Böögg through the screen at Münsterhof Square.

Strolling down along Limmat River, get ready to see lots of Zurich's landmarks by the Limmat River and the first will be Metropol (or Haus Metropol) with a magnificent neo-baroque façade. In an upscale atmosphere, it houses a restaurant that offers Japanese cuisine with a champagne bar, a café, and two banquet rooms.

⭐Fun Fact: Stadthaus Zurich (or Zurich City Hall) is a historic building located on the Limmat River, and its neo-baroque style and impressive architecture make it a popular tourist destination.

⭐Fun Fact: Further down, you can see a statue portraying Hans Waldmann, a prominent military and political figure in Zurich's history, who served as the city's mayor in the 15th century and was also known for his violent tactics in suppressing rebellions and his execution for treason.

Didn't expect to be walking at one of the shooting scenes of CRASH LANDING ON YOU, the popular Korean drama by Hyun Bin and Son Ye-Jin. I watched this drama halfway and I dropped it. Time to rewatch and finish it all up! So peeps, the Münsterbrücke Bridge.
⭐Fun Fact: It is a historical bridge located in the city of Zurich, Switzerland, connecting Lindenhof Hill with Münsterhof Square in the heart of the city's old town. It was built in the 13th century, one of the oldest bridges in Zurich, and has undergone several renovations and modifications throughout its history. The bridge offers stunning views of the Limmat River, Grossmünster Church, and the surrounding buildings.

Right across the bridge, you can see Grossmünster Church, a Romanesque-style church located in the heart of Zurich and one of the four major churches and the most recognizable landmarks in Zurich.
One of the most distinctive features of the Grossmünster Church is its twin towers, which rise over 60m above the city. Visitors can climb up to the top for a panoramic view of Zurich and the surrounding mountains. Inside the church, visitors can also admire the beautiful stained glass windows and frescoes, as well as one of the largest and most impressive organs in Switzerland.

⭐Fun Fact: Yet another church in the list, Fraumünster Church is a Protestant church located in the heart of Zurich's old town, on the banks of the Limmat River. It has a rich history and has undergone many changes over the centuries. One of the most distinctive features of the Fraumünster Church is its five stained-glass windows that depict scenes from the Bible.

The up-and-down slope of cobblestone pavement can be seen everywhere in the street and in traditional houses in the old town of Zurich. We were walking here and there, with Mister looking for public toilets (always), while I was mesmerized by the architectural works of the houses along the way.

⭐Fun Fact: Lindenhof is a district in the center of Zurich, situated on a hill overlooking the Limmat River and Zurich's Old Town. The Lindenhof district is known for its historic buildings and charming cobblestone streets and has a rich cultural scene with numerous museums and galleries located in the area that offer stunning views.

Someone was so in need of Asian food and was super hungry probably from the cold, so he googled nearby restaurants for dinner. Happens that just at the carpark below where we had the above view from Spielplatz, found Konshi Asia Kitchen & Sushi. But the food was okay (nothing fantastic) although I liked the ebi tempura and spring rolls. Really not worth spending on Asian food when in European countries (my personal opinion).

⭐Interesting Facts that I have learned:
- Hardly find any public toilets and you need to pay too for every visit;
- Many cathedrals or churches in Europe, like way too many and they are all beautiful on their own;
- Realized we really need to know the historical significance of every landmark to enjoy the picturesque views we get wherever we go.
