7 Casual Ways to Keto Outside | Keto Diet

So by now you should have read my previous posts on Keto Diet and the most recent post was on how to Keto at home. Now I'm gonna do one for the outside, meaning if you are back in the office for work or head out for a meal outside with family or friends, you can find the options below useful yet not bursting your High Fat, Moderate Protein, Low Carb diet a.k.a Keto Diet.

Note: The pandemic is not over yet so stick to the rule (2 pax dine-in only as of 6 Oct 2021). Don't break the rule.

My choices in this post mainly in the CBD area where I work, then Nee Soon area where I stay and of course, other parts of Singapore where I met up with friends.  It might be expensive for your pocket for some. Even if you have salad everyday is also gonna be expensive. So why not have a mixture of everything in order not to feel bored, right?

IN CBD AREA

1. SAIGON ROLLS

Price: $9.90 per set of 3 rolls of your choice with a drink
My Choice: Prawn, Salmon and Chicken Egg roll

Location: 9 Raffles Place, Republic Plaza, B1-03 Singapore 048619
(MRT: Raffles Place)

This was out of the traditional Vietnamese rolls and really like that because the fillings fit in my diet perfectly (unless you cannot agree with the Vietnamese rice noodles). Although Prawn and Salmon rolls need to top up $1 each if you select these two, but I found that the Prawn roll not worthy because the prawns were small. Oh ya... you got to choose the dip sauce. I chose Hoi Sin and Traditional Vietnamese. Both were good, a balanced between spicy and sweet each tub. Oh ya... food coma thereafter. Hahaha...

2. Fish Soup Paradise

Price: $7.50 (w/o rice and noodles, my option)
My Choice: Fried Fish Soup

Location: 9 Raffles Place, Republic Plaza, B1-07 Singapore 048619
(MRT: Raffles Place)

A little expensive but worth it once awhile. Love the clear broth and savoury taste. Bought their Batang Fish Broth and Tom Yum Broth home. Easy to keep (just freeze them) and take out for use. Mister was in favour with their broth after I used them to cook Yong Tau Foo at home. So I got the green light to buy more.

3. Yong Tau Foo @ Food Junction (CLOSED)

Price: $4.60 (w/o rice and noodles, my option)
Location: One Raffles Place, #05-07 (MRT: Raffles Place)

Recommended by my colleague to try this stall because the soup is sweet and savoury. Much needed when you are not having staples in order to spice up your taste bud. If not, it will be so boring. I tried choosing more greens and proteins, less fried food (though it softens in the soup).

Update as of 25 Oct 2021: After weeks away from office, I realized the stall was closed for good. There goes my YTF soup.

4. Grains & Co

Price: $9.80 only (no extra cost for additional/premium toppings)
Location: 30 Raffles Place B1-13 Change Alley Mall (MRT: Raffles Place)

You can order directly from their website for delivery or pick-up. I can take my time to customize the bowl at the comfort of my desk and as you already knew I'm on Keto Diet, my base is very important because NO CARBS. So it would always be lettuce or spinach (whichever options that do not require extra money except carbs).

Got myself 2 servings of Romaine Lettuce, 1 serving of boiled egg, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, button mushroom and crushed almonds each. My protein will be teriyaki chicken and Japanese Sesame for dressing. When I did my pick-up at their store, was told they no longer serve button mushrooms. So I chose cucumbers instead. Love their Teriyaki Chicken because it was tender and nice.

IN YISHUN / NEE SOON AREA

5. Sushi Tei

Price: $116.64 for 2 pax
Location: 930 Yishun Ave 2 #02-15, Northpoint City (MRT: Yishun)

We ordered Wagyu Steak (for Mister), Aki Sashimi (4 different types), Wakame Salad, Soft Shell Crab, Caviar Sushi (not in the pic) and Fried Kisu (white fish).

I would say we really could do Keto at Japanese restaurants. Just pick the right one that cater your needs for the diet. For Caviar Sushi, looked new to me so we tried since only 2 pieces (we shared). Along with refillable Hot Green Tea, perfect lunch or dinner for us Keto humans.

Other Parts of Singapore

6. Five Guys

Price: $17.00
Location: 68 Orchard Road #01-32 to 35, Plaza Singapura (MRT: Dhoby Ghaut)

Before the meeting with my friends, I checked their menu to see if there was anything that could fit my diet. To my surprise, there was bunless options for burgers and hotdogs. I am so grateful that I didn't need to burst my carbs too much. You could opt for lettuce as the bun replacement or have it on the plate like western food style. Omit the drinks (bring your own water) and fries (if possible).

To all fast-food restaurants, please follow how Five Guys do. An option for those on low-carb diet like myself. Thanks in advance.

7. Bai Nian 百年酿豆腐

Price: Less than $10 for 1 bowl and Chicken Wings
Location: #01-25 (Viva Business Park), 750 Chai Chee Rd (MRT: Bedok)

Any Yong Tau Foo stalls could be your option so long as you omit the rice/noodles. Like I have mentioned above, the soup needed to be flavourful so that you won't feel so bland for your tastebud.

The soup here was sweet so passed the test. Although the chicken wings were just okay with a different kind of crispiness (not those thick batter type).
.
.
So I hope you like the ways I have mentioned above because it can be quite easy so long as you omit that rice or noodles (although my Saigon Rolls have rice noodles but the portion not that big), bread and cakes. The rest of the requirements, just chill a little. Enjoy!
