There’s always something exciting about checking out a new mall in Singapore, especially one that’s been quietly building buzz before you’ve even stepped foot in the area. This time, I found myself heading to Lentor on a Saturday afternoon, right after wrapping up my online classes, curious to see what this new spot had to offer.
I’ll admit, this was my first time exploring the Lentor neighbourhood, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Would it feel like a hidden gem, or just another addition to Singapore’s ever-growing list of malls? With a mix of anticipation (and hunger), I set out to explore Lentor Modern, ready to see if its food options, atmosphere, and overall vibe lived up to the hype.
In this post, I’ll be sharing my first impressions, what you can expect when visiting, and of course, the food spots that caught my attention. If you’re planning a visit or just curious about what’s new in this part of Singapore, here’s a closer look at Lentor Modern through a foodie’s lens before doing so.

Welcome to Lentor Modern
Lentor Modern is an integrated development in the Lentor area that comprise residential, a mall, and direct MRT access to Lentor MRT (Thomson-East Coast Line). Getting around is easy even though it’s not in the central region. The vibe is quieter and greener, with parks nearby but housing prices can be relatively high and competitive as I can see that more condominiums are coming up in the area.
The mall comprises B1 to Level 1 & Level 2 by Mulberry Learning.

Yuen Kee Dumpling is a fast-growing dumpling chain from Guangzhou, China that has become very popular in Singapore since opening its first outlet at Fortune Centre in November 2024. It’s known for fresh, handmade Cantonese-style dumplings and wantons, which you can watch them being wrapped and prepared in open kitchens. Their popular items are Shrimp Pork Dumplings and Crab Roe Wantons.

You can buy uncooked dumplings to cook at home
You can enjoy dumplings in about six styles: Cantonese style soup, chilli oil, spicy tangy soup, peanut and garlic sauce, or simply boiled. Some outlets offer pan-fried versions too. Basically, you just pick your dumpling filling, then choose how you want it cooked or dressed.
|
They have a serving of 10 or 12 dumplings per bowl

Thin skin with generous fillings

So my Saturday afternoon was spent exploring Lentor Modern and stopped by Yuen Kee Dumplings for a quick bite. The mall seems to mean a great deal for Lentor Modern residents and also for those living in the nearby private estates. They have supermarket, F&B outlets and Guardian Pharmacy for all the basic needs. Even a fitness gym.
Walking around the neighbourhood, I realized it’s not somewhere I’d return often; if I want a mall stroll, Northpoint near my home is just as convenient. By the way, I visited Yuen Kee Dumplings around 1 pm and had no trouble finding a seat, so timing your visit really helps. That's all for this post but stay tune for my video coming up. Cheers!
