Himawari Japanese Restaurant | Food Review

We have eyed on this Japanese restaurant since Valentine's Day this year and the husband said we shall come on my birthday. It looked like we were trying to explore the F&B outlets available at Orchid Country Club because it was just 5 minutes drive from our place. And you dine with a view and that creates a mood, why not right? And my colleague mentioned about this place before on its fresh sashimi. Must come for sure already then.

If you haven't read about 3 Crabs Seafood which was right below Himawari (level 1), read here. But for now, let us savour on the food from Himawari.

Ebi Fried $16

Although only 5 pieces for that price but worth ordering. Very fresh and sweet prawns, also crispy on the outside. I didn't dipped with the sauce because it was already on its own. 👍 And we did not let anything on the plate go to waste. All into the tum tum.

Nigiri Sushi/Tenzaru Soba Set $32

Recommending this set that came with a plate of freshly made assorted sushi, a plate of tempura and cold soba. The soba felt like handmade because of the soft texture that didn't stick together. Filled you to the brim and I thought the price was reasonable. Mister gave all thumbs up! 👍👍👍 But could someone tell us what we do with the uncooked quail egg? We were kind of puzzled and forgot to us the waitress too. Hahaha

Tempura Set $22

The focus went to the plate of tempura which was the same as the above set. Crunchy on the outside and fresh on the inside (the food). The coating of batter was just right. The rest like fried tofu (soft and breaks away easily when you pick them up with chopsticks) and miso soup were normal.

Hotate Kushi $10

A simple hotate skewers cooked with teriyaki sauce. You taste the freshness that wasn't overwhelmed by the sauce and chewy texture which you knew it wasn't overcooked through grilling. 👍

Overall, a small and cozy restaurant with the golf range view. The price was kind of steep but you could expect fresh and quality food. Definitely worth, especially the Nigeri Sushi Tenzaru Soba Set which Mister had. If not, you can try their Ala Carte Buffet or Hotpot too if you have big appetite. Order and get serve, as much as you can have.

Did you realize we had a lot of prawns during this visit? Prawns day indeed. Unintended.

Will come back again for another meal. But will make reservation in advance. When we were there at 6+ in the evening (without reservation), it was fully booked though the customers haven't arrive yet. Managed to 'squeeze' one table for us. Lucky day!

Happy Birthday to ME!
