Sipping on Spells and Sweets: A Magical Visit to The Wizard's Brew

I honestly didn’t expect to find myself at The Wizard’s Brew; if not for my friend who suggested a meetup to pass us some gifts she brought back from Guangzhou, and to get a head start on planning our Christmas dinner in December. Specifically, we were prepping outfits for our Labubus! Yes, all three of us now have Labubus, and I’ve told them they must bring theirs out whenever we hang out. Big thanks to Anna for the gifts. I'll definitely send a reminder closer to our Christmas gathering!
Before going, I checked out the place online and instantly knew it was so my vibe. I’ve always wanted to visit another similar themed restaurant, but it was just too far. The Wizard’s Brew, on the other hand, is super close to my workplace, literally just one train stop away. As a proud Potterhead, I was pretty excited!
My friend made a reservation just in case it got crowded but to our surprise, we had the entire place to ourselves for a few hours. It seriously felt like we’d booked out the whole venue. A first-time experience for us!
Since it’s October, the bistro and bar area was already decked out in full Halloween decor. The combination of Halloween and the Wizarding World gave off such a mystical yet perfectly eerie vibe. Totally on point!

I won’t go into too much detail about our drinks, but here’s a quick rundown of what we ordered: I had the Phoenix Fire, while my two girlfriends went for the DIY specialty drinks: The Wizard’s Brew and Sparkulous. It was such a fun experience! One of my friends even dressed up as a witch to mix the drinks and 'cast a spell'. You’ve got to check out the magic in my Shorts (links at the end of this post) to join us virtually for the night.
As for the Phoenix Fire, it had a strong cinnamon flavour and a slightly gritty texture from the powdered topping. The alcohol wasn’t overpowering either, which was perfect for me.

This bistro and bar spot offers wizard costumes for guests to dress up in, adding to the themed experience and perfect for photo opportunities. Initially, I wasn’t planning to put one on but one of my friends was so sporting about it that I got inspired to join in too (being a proud Potterhead, how could I resist?). Naturally, I chose Gryffindor.
After the fun, I absentmindedly walked back to our table still wearing the robe, and my friend burst out laughing, thinking I actually intended to eat dinner in full costume. Haha!

Having high tea in the evening instead of the usual afternoon? We were just as surprised! The set for two was creatively presented in a suitcase, complete with a dramatic dry ice effect on the side which was definitely a nice touch.
It included seven different items, ranging from savoury to sweet. Most of them were enjoyable, except for the macaron, which was far too sweet for my liking; thanks to the white chocolate (note to self: no more white chocolate, please!). That said, the texture was spot-on, with nicely crisp shells.
As for the Chocolate Frogs, they were a bit too hard in texture for chocolates (or is it too thick on the body?), but otherwise, no major complaints.
Oh almost forgot! The set also came with a magical cauldron of tea, complete with light effects and an adorable owl-shaped infuser. We even got to DIY our own tea using ingredients provided in test tubes displayed on a test tube rack. It was such a fun and interactive experience!

That said, the tortilla could’ve been a bit crispier, perhaps it got a little soggy from the moisture inside.

We wrapped up our dinner with some desserts. I went for The Reaper’s Gold, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. As a tiramisu, the texture was off; too moist, almost watery, likely due to the Baileys pearls on top. That said, the presentation was spot-on: the eerie-looking cup fit perfectly with the Wizarding World or a Halloween vibe.
My friend, on the other hand, chose The Wizard’s Invitation, which turned out to be the saving grace. It came with a cool fiery effect, and the dessert itself was much more enjoyable. I believe it was vanilla ice cream wrapped in a thin crepe—correct me if I’m wrong!

Our total bill came to around SGD200, averaging about $67 per person. We ordered 3 specialty drinks, a high tea set, a quesadilla, a tiramisu, and an ice cream crepe.
Our verdict? The drinks were great, and the savoury dishes were a hit with everyone. As for the sweets, if you’re not into overly sugary treats, you might want to skip the macarons. Even I, someone who rarely turns down dessert, was totally overwhelmed by how sweet the macaron was despite it being adorably shaped like Hedwig, Harry Potter’s owl!
