SAPPORO OLYMPIC MUSEUM

The 11th Winter Olympic Games was held in Sapporo in 1972 and the first to be held in Asia. Supposed to hold the Games in 1940 but was interrupted due to World Wat II. There were various sports stadiums built in Sapporo for the Olympics and still popular among citizens like Okurayama and Miyanomori Jump Stadiums which give a panoramic views of Sapporo City.

NOBORIBETSU JIGOKUDANI

Noboribetsu Jigokudani is a crater formed by Kuttara volcano's eruption. The origin of Jigokudani (also know as Hell Valley) comes from the impression left by the area's bubbling, boiling hot water that looks like where demons live. Because of the volcanic activities, it has crated high-quality natural hot springs that caters 10,000 tons of water a day to inns and hotels in Noboribetsu hot spring district. Also, it has been selected as 'Hokkaido Heritage' site to preserve for the future generation.

NOBORIBETSU DATE JIDAIMURA

Back to the Edo period where you get to see merchant shops, majestic samurai residences and ninja houses filled with clever mechanisms along the ancient street. Instead of the natural scenery, the entire theme park is covered with snow when we visited. However, this weather gives out another vibe that I love so much in Japanese shows. That snowy white scene on traditional Japanese houses.

Get ready to teleport back to Edo-period

The frozen pond and I'm not kidding

Escape Room experience, anyone?

Can't get enough of this beautiful, snowy scene

I'm simply too happy to share more of the snowing scenes. You can never see them in Singapore (except for the artificial ones from malls) so why not? Sharing is caring. Watch my Short now.

And last but not least, Mitsui Outlet Park for last minute shopping. Too much to shop but too little time to do so. But managed to grab some stuff from Coach, Armani, Polo Ralph and Nike. Probably I should at least be there for half a day or a day even to walk in all shops. They have 2 different buildings or wings. That is very big. But then again, depends on what you wanna look for to buy. I somehow find it not very cheap. Or is it because of the difference in exchange rate on different credit cards?

Okay I shall conclude that Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura still good to visit because not so crowded in the winter (maybe other seasons too, not sure) and also not to miss out Mitsui Outlet Park for those who love shopping for branded stuff. Remember to do tax refund with their mobile app, PIE VAT but you still need to queue to verify your details on the app. And please choose PayNow for your refund method. I got it like in minutes after settling all the processes.

Okay that's all for my Hokkaido trip. A memorable one with the snow. Next up, my long-awaited Taiwan in March 2024. Stay tune!
