Is This Busan's Best View? My First-Timer's Day Tour Itinerary

To be completely honest, despite visiting South Korea 11 years ago, I had never actually stepped foot in Busan until this trip. Coming here for the first time, my takeaway might surprise you: to me, it felt like just another city in Korea with a change to seaside backdrop. Perhaps it was the specific pacing and activities of our tour itinerary, but it didn't completely reinvent the wheel for me. That said, Busan still offered some incredibly unique sights and massive modern infrastructure right against the ocean. From riding the iconic Haeundae Blueline Park beach train to sipping coffee 100th floor in the sky. If you're curious about what a first-timer's structured Busan tour looks like, here is an honest breakdown of how we spent our day checking out the ultimate views of Busan in two days. Hyang Yeon Korean Kitchen | Food Review

Another round of Christmas gathering a.k.a feast and gift exchange with my ladies. The Korean vibes continued till date and here we are at Hyang Yeon Korean Kitchen for some BBQ meat. Meat eater that is. They have another 2 outlets at Chinatown and Telok Ayer but we came to Peck Seah outlet and I forgot the reason why. Walking distance from Tanjong Pagar MRT Station and across the street of URA building.

Intimate settings inside the restaurant that carried the K-Pop vibes (as usual, those Korean songs playing in the background). Oh man, brought back some memories from 8 years ago during our Korea trip. The staff there could speak a little Korean though they weren't Korean. Not bad learning a 3rd language at work.

Reached early from work and luckily, they let us in before our reservation time so ordered their Seafood Pancakes $20 👍 while waiting for another girlfriend to arrive. Finally had better pancakes here that were really crispy and savoury which need no dips for taste.

And they also served up 8 different sides with the pancakes too. Kimchi, crispy anchovies, beancurd skins, mung bean jelly and so on. So Korean indeed and you could get refill for it. Ask and you will be given they said.

Was still wondering to order BBQ set or Army stew but decided on the former because we could do our own Army Stew at home. So easy and cheaper. Ordered Pork Set $88 and ala carte Garlic Chicken $23. The set came with free Steamed Egg and Tofu Stew that was a size for 1 pax. Not forgetting the greens.

Pork Set $88

Honestly speaking, the Garlic Chicken was tasteless though tender after cooked but the garlic salt to the rescue for elevating the taste. The same for Pork. But fresh lah (including the chicken). However, I preferred the marinated ones.

The stew was kind of diluted with little flavour but not to the extent of bland taste. Tofu and egg could be seen inside. A good source of protein for me. Grateful for that.

Tofu Stew

I liked their Steamed Egg done pretty nice on the outlook and also got another good source of Protein for the day again. The egg was smooth and runny looking on the outside like scrambled eggs.

The staff helped us on the BBQ from grilling, cutting to serving cooked ones on the side. They served greens for us to wrap and eat the meat with sides together. Eating like the Koreans do.

There are a number of Korean restaurants on the same stretch of shophouses so this is one of the many for you to try out. I recommend trying on their pancakes because I find it nice but still depends on individual taste bud. Cheers!
