Back to Johor Bahru again! For FOOD! || Post Covid Travel

Bello! I'm back to JB for another day trip again with friend. This time we reached JB damn early, before 10am. Chop chop nobody is late and set off earlier than expected plus everything went smooth including custom clearance. Bright and sunny day to kick start the day trip with food. That paid off with me enduring that growling stomach because at least we had some good food through the day instead of mediocre or lousy ones.

A pilgrimage to Jalan Tan Hiok Nee like a must for me already. ICYMI, here is a post recap of my 1st trip to JB in 2.5 years here.

NYONYA DYNASTY
29, Jalan Dhoby, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru

Initially wanted to try the café next to it (Offee) but lacked of food (see from far pastries mostly) so proceeded with Nyonya Dynasty since we were greeted by the staff when we were standing outside, flipping thru their menu. For your info, their rest day on Tuesday according to the staff.

I realized this was the 2nd time I ordered soft-boiled eggs RM2.80 for breakfast in JB for my protein intake. The trip here few months back at the other cafe was the same too. Then Kaya and Butter Toast RM2.60 along with Teh-C RM2.40. Such an enjoyment dipping my toast with eggs.

My friend had their Otah Toast RM5.90 and a cup of Kopi O Kosong RM2.40. She was satisfied with their toast and kopi. Try it when you visit.

If not because we wanna had lunch at IT Roo Cafe, we would have try their mee siam (my friend's pick) and nasi lemak (mine pick). Keep that for next visit.

SALAHUDDIN BAKERY
26, Jalan Dhoby, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru

My friend pointed out this bakery that sells old school breads, pastries and so on. Went to take a look after our breakfast at Nyonya Dynasty because it was just at the same stretch of shophouses. Next round I shall grab that rainbow loaf. So old school and I like!

IT ROO CAFE
17, Jalan Dhoby, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru

This old school café always popped out in the search list for food to have in JB. Finally checked in for lunch. And that was shortly after our light breakfast. We were 3rd in the queue before they open for business. Being kiasu pays off because full house after that.

Of course, the chicken chop RM18.50 of theirs was the must try but also ordered their fish & chips RM18 too. Shared between both of us. You can choose crispy or grilled for your chicken chop but the former seems to be a better choice.

My friend commented on their mushroon sauce that has the unique old school taste. And I personally thought their chicken chop was thick and not battered thickly. You really taste the meat. Solid good! They used potato wedges instead of normal fries. A little salty but manageable.

Amount of meat vs the batter

And same goes to their fish & chips. I'm loving it because I finally taste the fish more than batter. Fish was fresh and seasoning was good. I personally don't dip with any sauce because I still prefer the taste on its own, unless is too bland.

Lychee Barley and Watermelon Juice

SUSHI KING AT SOUTHKEY MID VALLEY
LG-053, The Mall Mid Valley Southkey, 1, Persiaran Southkey 1, 80150 Johor Bahru

Kind of a late tea break after shopping around Southkey. Decided to choose sushi since never tried before in Malaysia. It was normal and in total cost about SGD15 for 10 plates and 2 green teas

SEASON CAFE
J2-J38, Level 2, City Square, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Johor Bahru 80000 Malaysia

Done with all the shoppings from Southkey and back at City Square. Chillax time before heading back home. This café was so Swensen infused vibes through their menu. Wanted a banana split but when you brought along a friend who didn't like banana, calories on yourself. So ordered a platter and drinks (my fav Mojito Lime) and talked about the day. Felt good that crossing borders again after 2.5 years.

I'm so happy to be exploring other food places in Johor Bahru with my friend and the next time I shall visit others and making sure no repeat ones! Ciao!
