Chillax Hunts with Stella || Lifestyle

Seriously enjoying the alone time, doing things I love without a husband or friends in tow. Or when I decided to work outside instead at home or office, away from distraction (tv or snacks) and comfort (bed and sofa). And I can save some electricity bills at all, though probably need to spend a little at cafes to chope yourself a seat for half a day or so. Like a digital nomad who moves around to work without constraints from a physical workplace.

1. JING-SI BOOKS & CAFE
30A Yishun Central 1
#01-07 Singapore 768796
Nearest MRT: Yishun (North South Line)

Simplicity with rustic feel is the best description for this café, like finding a gem in the woods. And I like the all-in-one retail and F&B concept always because I can shop after enjoying my tea time in one place.

FB Live going on when I arrived

When I arrived, they were hosting a FB live on their FB page, introducing a book. This café is all about Buddhism study. Was told to wait awhile for my drink because of ongoing FB live.

Mixed Dried Fruits $11 (left), Buckwheat Thin Crackers $4.20 (right)

A lifestyle bookstore and café with a range of vegan food items imported from Taiwan, books and some other merchandises. I grabbed a pack of crackers and mixed fruits (it was good!), even though the price was a little steep. Because is Taiwan and I can't be happier. Though not a vegan, but I'm flexible.

Just look at the view. Again, blue sky white cloud. Sitting outside feels much better than the usual air-conditioned. Sometimes we do need some Vitamin D. If not because of sitting out here, how do I get this tranquility feel? Nice, peace and quiet with rustling of leaves from trees and the sound from insects. The nature wonders.

Here comes my Cocoa Latte ($6) with a biscuit to go with, and simple latte art on top. Foamy and more cocoa taste than coffee. Seems more like Hot Chocolate and I actually don't mind though.

My drink blends pretty well with the view in the background. I really don't mind sitting here on my own, enjoying some quietness for an hour or two.

On regular work days like Friday, it was packed with morning risers. But queued for awhile and got my seat because it was just me. A open concept, airy and the same view I got while at Jing-Si Books & Café. They accept PayNow and Cash only. Plus I saw Muslim customers so I assume it was okay. After all, the food here were mainly vegan or gluten-free.

Ordered their Breakfast Set (top up $4.50) to get 2 soft-boiled eggs and drink when you purchase their bread/toast or buns. I got myself a Matcha Mochi Red Bean bun ($3.50). It was good with the mochi and not too sweet even with the red bean and crusty outer layer. Went well with my Teh-C Xiu Dai. Spent a total of $8 here for my breakfast. The table turnover kind of fast so I doubt you can even stay long there, let alone work there.

Scrambled Tofu w Broccoli $10.80 and Potato Cashew Samosas $7.80 (for 6 pcs)

Honestly I thought I'm having scrambled eggs but it was tofu. How did they do that? Again, the sourdough was good. Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Yes you can really taste the sourness but not too overwhelmed. There goes my diet.

My ABC Juice $8.50 (on the right)

The samosas on the other hand was quite normal. Of course is crispy while it's hot and a hint of the spice flavour coming from the mash potatoes fillings. Not much of the cashew taste. Last but not least, my ABC juice. The usual apple, beetroot and carrot. My colleague recommended to change the carrot to cucumber instead. It's gonna be refreshing. So next time do try ABC(cucumber) instead of carrot for a change.

After hopping the 3 cafes inside Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre, don't just go off without a stroll behind and enjoy the view of Yishun. Make Yishun Great Again. Hahaha... free your mind and continue with your work later on.

Ordered a Latte ($6.50) to tide me for an hour or 2 to do my work before I decided to head home. They have a range of food from pastries to main course to choose from. Shall try them next time as I'm still full from my breakfast.

5. ANGE BAKES KETO BAKERY & CAFE
1 Coleman Street
#B1-07 The Adelphi
Singapore 179803
Nearest MRT: City Hall (EastWest Line)
*Free WIFI available

Being a Keto-dieter since Aug 2021, I have been in search for Keto cafes in Singapore. Spotted a few but gonna introduced this first because it is the nearest from my workplace, which is located at Basement 1 of The Adelphi. A small, cozy café that sells low-carb meals (fried rice and noodles), cakes, pastries and even items for you to buy home to cook. Tried some via take-out and I'm quite pleased with the taste. The real taste of Keto meals.

LOW CARB MEAL - CLASSIC FRIED CAULIFLOWER RICE $12.80

It smelled so good even when I was waiting for my order and on my way back to office. The taste was good without the MSG burden in your mouth and it tasted just like fried rice with a crunch but a little dry.

LOW CARB MEAL - LOW CARBS FRIED PRAWN NOODLES $13.80 (PROMO PRICE)

A little bitter to begin with but it was good after mixing it well. Taste the crunch and wasn't too dry and you can taste that 'wok hey' as you tuck in. Coated with eggs too. Decent portion for both rice and noodles but some might find it little.

BAKERY MENU - KETO BREAD $9

Being a miser, I cut them into half, toast it in the airfryer and spread with my favourite Taiwanese peanut butter. Or do it anyway you fancy. The price is on the high side for half a loaf (estimate) and taste the same like normal bread but feel less guilt because it fits my Keto diet.

BAKERY MENU - KETO CURRY PUFF AND MUFFINS BUNDLE $38 (JUNE/JULY 2022 PROMO)

✅️ Keto Curry Puffs: Mister is too used to crispy curry puffs so he doesn't really like this 'soft-like pastries' puffs. The puff skins made with almond flour and coconut milk, the fillings of course chicken, seasoned with sea salt and spices, along with egg and cheese bites. The fillings was perfect for me though without potatoes and neither too spicy or bland.

Keto Muffins: Distinctive type of sweetness unlike those normal muffins. Light and fluffy muffins without feeling guilty. Tried 6 different flavours and my favourite were all except Chocolate ones.

BAKERY MENU - CHOCOLATE CHEESECAKE $8.30

I love this cheesecake that is firm and the perfect taste of bitter chocolate and the mild sweetness from the cream cheese in one bite. I can have that without guilt now. Wish there are more flavours like blueberry (my favourite), matcha and so on. Any flavours you can find in other cafes but into a keto-friendly ones.

6. PAZZION CAFÉ @JEWEL
78 Airport Boulevard, B1-243/244
Singapore 819666
Nearest MRT: Changi
*Tap on Capitaland's Free Wifi

This concept of Pazzion is somehow like PS Café which last time at Paragon, their fashion retail shop and café were at the same floor. Just that Pazzion is on footwear and Projectshop is on fashion apparel.

I actually made a reservation for 1 pax. Pathetic? Nope. Because I'm heading there on a weekend and I have zero patience to wait or queue. Then got to know is free seating. Just find a seat and scan QR code for the menu on the table and order your food. Looked through their menu beforehand for some ideas and decided to try their Fabulous Big Breakfast $26 and Matcha Latte $6.50.

Came with an empty stomach for this big breakfast that was expensive but better than Mcdonald's Big Breakfast. Almost a Keto meal for me except with that slice of nice sourdough toast. The bacons and baked beans hidden beneath. Having this whole plate is enough to fill my tummy up to dinner time. No kidding. This is their All Day Breakfast so no worries on missing out.

Decent cup of Matcha Latte, which I think Mister will like because the taste is quite balanced and not bitter. I love that Latte art thou because that is what it meant to be. Had it last after I finished my big breakfast because I could enjoy the pretty sight while enjoying my food.

7. PROJECT AÇAÍ
18 Raffles Quay, Stall TK2
Food Folks @ Lau Pa Sat
Singapore 048582
Nearest MRT: Raffles Place

The last time I had Acai bowl, it was good! Here is another one near workplace and decided to pop in for lunch. Ordered a Original Flower Bowl (Medium size for $9.80) and the presentation was 100% effort. So fruity and refreshing, especially good in hot weather.

They also offered smoothies and specialty drinks like lattes. I wonder why I can't tap into Kopitiam's WIFI and that's the one you can use if you wanna hang out there to do up some work. Their limited seating capacity seems to be shared between the other 3 stalls in the same section so 'chope' early if you wanna enjoy the free aircon while lunching.

Hope you peeps enjoy my chillax hunts that I went and shall explore more of them soon. Ciao!
