Takagi Ramen (Chong Pang) | Food Review

Previously, I went exploring to Sembawang Hotspring Park (read here) and chanced upon Takagi Ramen when I walked back from the park to Chong Pang. Decided that one day I shall ask Mister to try it out or order food delivery if too lazy to head out. Afterall, Chong Pang carpark is always full. Too popular place.

Opportunity came and we ordered via food delivery for dinner! Because is Friday!!! Last time when we were young, my mum used to fix Friday as one dish meal day. She would cook either fried noodles (or beehoon), fried rice or mui fan. Other days of the week would be 2 veg 1 soup kind of meals.

Mister loved such packaging, like cup noodles type but bigger. Microwave-friendly and even recommending customers to reheat the ramen as it is best enjoyed while Piping Hot. Plus recyclable cup. Do our part in reducing waste okay?

Upon receiving the food, saw this note on one of the boxes. So sweet and effort 101%! Yes... it made my gloomy week a better one! The bowl of ramen was drawn so cute. Thank you so much! This kind of note comes just at the right time for me, at least!

Ordered 2 sets which comes with gyoza (my favourite) and a melon milk drink. This should fill us up for dinner. And you get free extra noodles for your ramen order (100g more they stated). Worth it! Mister can have that extra on top of his donburi to fill his capacity.

I liked how to separate the noodles and meat from the soup (below it). Just a layer of paper on top that actually can hold it so well without dropping into the soup when you open the cover. Great idea! I imagined the noodles on top heated by the soup below while delivering to us. It was still hot when I received them. 👍

The broth had this big bone 大骨 Tonkotsu boiled over time taste. Very light but at least no MSG (you will feel thirsty if there is). If you prefer something light, this is definitely for you. The Hakata noodles were normal but with good bite texture.

Please don't choose this if you are heavy taste bud person like my Mister. Everything to him is like 没味道 (he not Covid ah, just too 重口味 person).

The gyozas were normal but still satisfying as a complement to the mains. Or should I say, the saving grace. They used mayonnaise as the dipping sauce instead of the usual black vinegar with sliced ginger. Bedded with lettuce strips. Wasn't oily too though lacked a little juiciness.

Oh my god, I really love gyozas. Maybe I should go down to the shop and have it on the spot for piping hot experience.

If you have watched my YT video on me conquer 15 home-fried dumplings (also gyozas lah!), you will know how much I love them. Watch the video here ⬇️

Chashu Donburi Teishoku

Mister's review: On top of the rice were egg-mayo drizzled with sauce, along with Chashu and scallions. Mixed them all up and you get egg-mayo rice kind of taste. Overall, light taste (or almost tasteless for him) which he didn't like it (heavy taste bud human here).

Melon Milk Drink

Mister liked this drink and given that he wasn't a fan of sweet stuff, this was alright for him. Probably he didn't try before such drink. For me, at least it wasn't that diluted kind of taste, striking a balance in between.

Conclusion: Mister's first and last and for me, I might go to their shop and try others in the menu. You have to give others a try to conclude whether is good or not, right?

They have 8 outlets in Singapore (including Chong Pang) with some outlets operating 24 hours (Chong Pang is one of them). I shall not write on the introduction of Takagi Ramen but I will drop their website below for your reading.
