Springleaf Nature Park / Sembawang Hot Spring Park | Local Travel

Another adventure in my country and this time, I shall bring you peeps to nature park and hotspring. Yes, believe or not we have hotspring in Singapore.

(Travelled on 13 Nov 2021)

Instead of taking Thomson-East Coast Line, I'm taking a bus 169 from Northpoint City to my destination, Springleaf Nature Park. The last time I went there by car and brought my drone along to test fly (before the registration requirement for all drones). Check out this link for more information: https://www.nparks.gov.sg/gardens-parks-and-nature/parks-and-nature-reserves/springleaf-nature-park

Basically my bus ride route covered along military camps which I didn't expect. I think Khatib Camp covers quite a large area. But never mind that.

Note to myself: One stop before Springleaf Nature Park will be the Brooks Village (The Brooks I and II) where the makan places are. But actually it wasn't quite far from the park to Brooks Village and I have tried the route. Take it as a short walk before a meal then.

I remembered there was a cafe at the pavilion where you can find restrooms and sitting areas. The cafe is gone now, not sure for how long. Such a pity. This is a good place for a few rounds of run, then have a rest and a cuppa coffee after. Hopefully they can put more coffee and cold drinks vending machines so that even without the cafe, visitors still can have something to drink after a run or walk.

This view was like capturing everything of this park in a glimpse. It was indeed a small but suitable for morning/evening walks, running or cycling. You could see flock of birds flying around. Tranquil place away from the hustle and bustle.

After a good mid morning walk, I walked to Brooks Village. Before that, I saw a old building next to it. Nowadays you hardly see such old kinda building. I guess it should be private property? Not sure.

Coming out from the park, I turned to my right and towards Brooks Village. Passing by Caltex station and reached The Brooks II first before The Brooks I. Along the way I saw across the road the stretch of shophouses and spotted a Hong Kong eatery (if I remember correctly). Let me know if you have tried the food there and if it is nice.

There were still empty units waiting to be occupied but you can see from some F&B outlets already luring a long queue of customers. Why? Because I saw write-ups on Facebook regarding 朋友冰室 and Lok Lok. You know lah... read liao feels good then must try. Something along the way.

Spotted a pet friendly cafe at The Brooks I. They sell waffles, ice cream and even pet food. So pet owners, check out The Urban Hideout.

朋友冰室 is the one which the long queue. A Hong Kong style restaurant settling foot here at The Brooks I. I'm more interested with Lok Lok beside it. Too bad it wasn't open and never bother to check out the opening time.

Decided to takeout a pack of Beehoon Goreng from Tasha's. Expensive when added a $2.80 worth of mutton. It wasn't the red colour type but the dark colour like our normal fried beehoon. Mister and I were disappointed.

Walked across to the opposite for a bus ride home. Didn't realize I actually have a direct bus from my house to Springleaf and back, until I walked out of the Park. So I actually can come anytime I want. While waiting for the bus, I was looking around and saw this place called 33 Sembawang Eating House. I saw Teochew Porridge stall and a Malay stall. Very old kinda coffeeshop.

And there were a few roosters running around. One on the road and one watching patrons eating away. Seriously... acting like a pigeon or what? Waiting to be feed? Hahaha... it was a hilarious sight. So kaypoh.

The hotspring facilities were closed due to the pandemic (damn it!!) So just a glimpse from the outside of how it looked like. I mean the facilities.

How to get here? From Yishun MRT, take bus 969 or 858 and drop at bus stop number 57121 (opp Blk 115B). Then walk towards your right (when you get down the bus) about 5 mins to the entrance (depending on your pace too).

There was a Sembawang Eating House and the toilets beside it. A sign outside that said selling only Laksa and Nasi Lemak. Hahaha... because the hotspring closed and no one wanna come too. I thought it would be some cafes here because the outlook of this place looked so chillax from the outside surrounded by the greenery.

The drain had the greens on both sides to glorify it. If not, it looked and felt so dry. I wonder where it actually leads to. The direction is towards Woodlands.

So took a photo from the outside. Imagine on good old days, lots of people would be hanging out here, bringing their bucket to get the spring water for soaking their feet. Till then, we shall just wait for it to reopen again.

Spotted these flowers on my way out. It looked so nice and unique, like a mini Christmas Tree on the branches. Adding more Christmas vibes in our life during these gloomy days of the pandemic. By the way I don't what it is called.

After you are done here and still have strength to walk on, go Chong Pang for a breakfast. I even tabao nasi lemak and beehoon mee for lunch. About 10mins walk there but I enjoyed it. Or you can take a bus from the stop you alight to Causeway Point. Few options to choose from.

Cheers and stay tune for my next local travel series!
