The Secret to Perfect Homecooked Fried Rice + My Husband's Childhood Recipes

If there is one ultimate comfort food that instantly feels like home, it has to be a steaming plate of fried rice. But if you ask three different people how they cook it, you’ll probably get three completely different answers! In our household, fried rice isn't just a quick way to clear out the fridge, it's a trip down memory lane. 3 Favourite Snacks During Lunar New Year

Oh man... how not to gain weight during festive seasons? Christmas and Lunar New Year are totally 'killing' my weight loss plan. Like literally put a halt to my plan and push me to the edge of becoming a fatty bom bom again. Even Keto diet can't stop me from indulgence. Help!

My favourite part of Lunar New Year is snacks. You can see variety of snacks parading along the shophouse, the stalls putting out their items to sell. Some are ridiculously expensive but when it comes to the last few days before Lunar New Year, price will drop in order to clear their stocks.

I have my 3 favourites and they appear only once a year at this time. After that I have to wait for a year again. 2 of them found in supermarkets and the other one in the traditional market. And I know these 3 hardly has any price dropped.

1. Soft Candies

These soft candies which I love since young usually seen at stalls in traditional markets. Cost about $2.50-$2.80 per small box like this and you have to keep in the fridge and not outside. Always white and pink, coated with white powder that isn't sweet at all (thot it would be some sugared powder). The sweetness comes from the candies itself. Let me know if you see them elsewhere but I definitely get them from traditional markets mostly.

2. Julie's Love Letters Chocolate

Favourite brand. They have Strawberry flavour but I always get Chocolate flavour in the smaller tin but if I feel a little rich, I will get the bigger tin. Love it so much even thou there are other different love letters. The texture is really different from others that I tried before. So my choice is Julie's. Price below $10 is quite reasonable for both small and big tin.

3. Singlong's Crispy Potato Sticks

This is the 'killer' of my diet, big times. Just this year, I think I have bought 3-4 or more bottles and finished them like in an hour if I'm not controlling. OMG making me feel heaty and fat too. I seriously cannot resist because it was so addictive. Expensive lah at $10.50 per bottle. Stop me please!!!! I have to run more to burn them.

Well... now you know my favourites are not those pineapple tarts, bak kwa and so on. Please tell me I'm not unusual. They are simply my loves and will go search for them this time of the year. Share with me your favourite Lunar New Year snacks too!

Cheers and Happy Lunar New Year!
