#OOTD | Dressing up for Work 2021 Series

Wherever I work, I tried to give different impressions to people at the workplace. Let's take my current workplace for example. My previous job can dress down all day (at least must decent wear) and when I come to my current workplace, I started to wear more dresses and loving it now. Because you know, CBD area a.k.a Shenton Way, everyone dresses up so nicely and so 'Shentonista'. I love that and I have given the impression as a demure lady in dress or skirt except Friday dress down day.

Note to those who have known me as a jeans or pants person: I don't like the attention from people who sees me and go 'Wow, Stella is wearing a skirt today' or Wow, Stella is wearing a dress today. What's the occasion?'.

Why such reactions from them? Because I'm more tomboyish and most of the time in pants or jeans to work. So it will come as a surprise for them but for me, it stresses me out for such reactions that I resist wearing dresses or skirts to work thereafter. At least in a few companies I worked previously.

You people hear that ya! Over-reaction is not appreciated. Sometimes, depends on mood too.

Enough rants. Let's start.

FROM IORA

Price range between $29.90 - $39.90 (at least for the ones I chose)

This is actually Navy colour dress and not Black.

When I started work in my current company, I actually got new dresses from IORA. Why? They have pockets on their dresses. This is such an important feature when I'm in search of dresses.

Why pockets? Because you can put your Ezlink card while on the move (Convenient), your staff pass and trace together token (when you have no lunch bag) and stuffing your sanitary pad when your menses come while you are at work (if you don't want to hold it publicly in the office). Or when your hands are lazy, stuff them in the pockets and hang in there. Hahaha... if not I scare my hands swing like hooligans.

Not sure what colour belt goes better with this dress. I look like Nurse or something.

When I started wearing dresses for work, I don without a belt. But after the feedback from Mister that I look waist-less, like pregnant or fat, I immediately ordered cheap belts online in 3 colours mainly black, white and brown. No regrets after I started wearing belts with my dresses. All thanks to him, I look better at least.

🠉 This dress I wore for 开工 this year 2021. Didn't want any dull colour since this pandemic has dampen all the festive moods. Any bright colours on Lunar New Year give better vibes.

🠉 I find it very loose and big for this dress even though I have gotten a Small size. Oh by the way at IORA, I can wear a Small size for their dresses. Once a while deceive myself that I'm Small. Hahaha... Okay this dress needs a belt. So belt up the next time. Black or a brown.

FROM MANGO

🠉This dress was bought few years ago during a Mango Sales. Can't remember how much but I really do like this one because of the partial bare back. Now I just love black with brown belt. It really stands out. So peeps, black with brown = perfection. I love LBD.

FROM UNIQLO

Price: Dresses - $19.90 (after discount) to $29.90
Price: Crew Neck Tee $14.90 (sometimes $9.90 after discount for selected colours)

$19.90 when I got it at discount.

🠉🠋I actually got 2 pieces of the same design on separate occasion. Imagine I got one at $29.90 and the other at $19.90 because got discount. Why not since I love the design and especially pockets? The material is thicker so it will not give you that 'Marilyn Monroe' fly skirt scene. Hahaha...

$29.90 when I first got this dress.

Another design which I got in 2 different colours.

🠋🠉Same material (in my opinion) but with sleeves which is helpful in hiding my fat arms. Again, bought 2 different colours. Whatever colours deem suitable, grab them all.

🠋Crew neck tee and a skirt when I want a 2 piece look. I think I have more than 10 different colours of the same crew neck tee since many years ago. Thank god I still can wear because am gaining weight and then losing it again. And I have only this black skirt to go with. This will stay in my wardrobe for as long as I can wear. Because, pockets again.

🠋My dress down day. Top and jeans from Uniqlo too. Imagine last time, I only wear Levis jeans. Now with Uniqlo, okay can. But I still prefer Levis still.

🠋 The crew neck top to match with a long skirt. Simple and decent dressing for work. Have to maintain a left tummy because this skirt will give away your hideous, bulging tummy. So please note on that. Oh this doesn't have any pockets. I find it inconvenience but then I still loving it.

FROM MY OWN SHOP - DRESSED BY THE LENGGU'S

On Fridays when we can dress down, I usually wear jeans and if possible, match with my design tees. Please do show your support for my t-shirts. Probably be launching more in 2022. Stay tune.

🠋 I actually match my tee with Uniqlo skirt. I mean, why not? So long as I tuck in my top, it looks decent enough for work. Only after I worked in my current company then I realize how tucking in your clothes look neat and clean. Maybe I'm too used to casual outlook.

So this is how I dressed up for work and always on repeat mode. Hope you don't find me old fashioned or boring or too simple. Because I don't wanna buy too much to hoard the wardrobe and some more they are still in good condition. My mum used to say just wear the clothes till spoilt (got holes, zip spoilt, discoloured and etc) then throw. And wear others if possible by not buying any new ones yet. Now I finally understand her long ago preaching. I shall shameless wear the same clothing over and over again. Maybe only on Lunar New Year buy one for 开工大吉. Save money! Okay that's all. Cheers.
