Singapore Reimagined through A Local Scenic Traveler’s Eyes

They say Singapore is small, fast-paced, modern and in foreigners' eyes: man-made. But if you slow down and change your angle, it’s also incredibly scenic with histories going back to the 1800s - 1900s. And not just that, it is a free walkable tour. Or maybe you can cycle around too by spending a small amount to rent a bicycle. As a local Singaporean, it’s easy to take the streets we walk every day for granted. But lately, I’ve been picking up my camera again to look at my home country through the eyes of a traveler. No rushing, no text-heavy guides. Just Singapore, reimagined. By Your Truly. Food Review | HONGUO (Revisit)

I'm back for HONGUO again after almost 2 years. A real long hiatus. Well... you just gotta try something else till it brings you back where you start.

Simple dinner. Just one side. Enough to fill 2 hungry souls up.

Garlic Cucumber
Naturally, cucumbers are refreshing fruits (technically) to have on hot weathers, esp if you slice and put them in fridge for hours or till it is chilled. Here is a simple dish and kind of easy to cook too. Garlic, soya sauce and sesame oil in mixture, then pour over it. Or maybe put the cucumbers into the sauce mixture for absorption of taste. I shall do it at home myself. Interesting find.

Lotus XO Seafood Fried Rice
Right from the start, when we talk about seafood fried rice, I will first turn to their seafood varieties like prawns and/or squids. Sometimes, crabsticks. Then the freshness of their seafood. I give it a pass for their seafood items here. Lastly, I will turn to their rice. Fragrance and you taste the every rice grains. Flavourful, and top with some spring onion. That is how Fried Rice should be.

Lotus Chicken Chop Fried Rice
The last time we came for dinner at Honguo, my husband had this chicken chop fried rice. I shall not comment further on their rice because is the same as above. Here, we talk about the chicken chop. At the right texture, it tastes a little juicy but fatty. A little suggestion here is to cut the chicken chop further half, smaller pieces for easy consumption. The batter can be a little less to get the taste of chicken much closer with every bite.
