Is This Busan's Best View? My First-Timer's Day Tour Itinerary

To be completely honest, despite visiting South Korea 11 years ago, I had never actually stepped foot in Busan until this trip. Coming here for the first time, my takeaway might surprise you: to me, it felt like just another city in Korea with a change to seaside backdrop. Perhaps it was the specific pacing and activities of our tour itinerary, but it didn't completely reinvent the wheel for me. That said, Busan still offered some incredibly unique sights and massive modern infrastructure right against the ocean. From riding the iconic Haeundae Blueline Park beach train to sipping coffee 100th floor in the sky. If you're curious about what a first-timer's structured Busan tour looks like, here is an honest breakdown of how we spent our day checking out the ultimate views of Busan in two days. Eat 3 Bowls 呷三碗 at NEX | Food Review

I have a thing for Taiwan since the idol drama days like MVP 情人, 西街少年 a few to name. Whenever I see shops or supermarkets that sell products from Taiwan, I will buy as a support for their products especially food like bowl noodles, drinks and so on. Then I will try out restaurants that sell Taiwanese street food or cuisine too (although some isn't that authentic).

So the Good Friday weekend was spent on visiting his parents' niche as part of Qing Ming a.k.a Tomb Sweeping and going to NEX to eat and shop. Spotted Eat 3 Bowls having a soft launch and decided to try it without hesitation.

Though the restaurant was packed with diners, it didn't took long for us to get a table (advantage for couple or 2 pax). The menu looked so appetizing (as usual, what's new right? Expectation vs Reality) and already knew what we were going to have. Placed our order (scan QR to order) and just wait to be served.

Oyster & Pig Intestines Mee Sua $8.90

This is usually the first thing to go for along with Braised Pork Rice whenever we travel in Taiwan. I mean who will want to give the local delights a miss. The fresh oyster and the smooth, starchy consistency of the mee sua that is cooked to 'drinkable' state.

However, we were quite disappointed with the one here because it was too watery, only if it can be thicken a little more to meet the minimal expectation. But overall was fine with that savoury and vingery taste. Intestines were cleaned up without funky taste.

Shrimp Egg Fried Rice $12.50

The outlook of the fried rice was comparable with the ones from other restaurants and we thought we were up for a treat as it looked promising. Other than the fresh prawns and moist pearl rice, I thought they could season a little bit more. Whenever I see my husband reaching for chilli, it means is bland to him. Lack of a good wok taste (a.k.a wok-hey).

Fried Jumbo Pork Chop $8.50

Initially wanted to order the Pork Chop Fried Rice but changed to a side order instead. I thought it was gonna be huge like XXL Fried Chicken but it was quite a decent portion of protein for us. The texture was just right but wasn't juicy. The compliment for this pork chop was the thin batter which we get to taste more meat, and it brought some sweetness. Overall taste was fine.

Mushroom Pork Ball Soup $11.20 & Onsen Egg $1.70

The tasty White Radish Soup was their saviour but not the Mushroom Pork Balls. It was too dense though I taste the mushroom within. It reminded me of the beef balls from Stephen Chow's movie, The God of Cookery 食神. And not forgetting the Onsen Egg which was good but presentation failed (the kniving skill needs some improvement).

Taiwanese Fried Tempura $8.50

Ordered this rather than dessert to end our meal. A simple fried tempura to reminisce the ones we had before in Taiwan. Sprinkled with pepper salt to enhance the taste. If you have never tried before, the texture is like Keropok Lekok which we can find at Pasar malam. Both are made from fish.

Lastly, their condiments. They have vinegar and chilli on every table for you to enhance the taste of your food. While the vinegar is just vinegar, the chilli is awesome. Fragrant, spicy with the garlicky taste. For a spice lover like my husband, a little bit is enough to spice him up. Do try it with your fried rice if you find it bland.

So this is another Taiwanese restaurant explored. Good attempt in making your food taste the nearest to the authentic Taiwanese food. Almost there. After we made payment at the cashier, we got a chance to play the Gashapon Capsule Machine to win something from the restaurant or even nothing (not very sure if it is a sure-win thing) but I got a free Crispy Salted Chicken for my next visit with no minimum purchase. But then, will I come again? Maybe or maybe not. Till next time, cheers.
