Van Gogh Singapore Exhibition : The Immersive Experience (YT Video included)

Wonder what to do when you are on leave or off day? Like me, I decided to go for something unusual than my usual window shopping and cafe-hopping (even though I did that after the exhibition). Decided to jump on the bandwagon for Van Gogh Singapore Exhibition: The Immersive Experience. I'm not an artsy person but I do want to check it out on his paintings and why it was that famous. Of course, I did some homework on Van Gogh and his works (my colleague said too) before going so that I don't look all stupid and ignorant lady at the exhibition. So this post will be a brief walk-through of the exhibition with photos I took but you can check out my video (at the end of this post) for more. The video will be a spoiler for those who have not gone to the exhibition (or have no intention to go). Oops... apologies!

The Bedroom at Arles

The Bedroom at Arles

Japanese theme

Van Gogh painted The Starry Night during his stay at the asylum in France. Due to the limitation of his view through his barred bedroom, he described to his brother, Theo that the night was more colourful than the day and the stars were more than just simple white dots on black.

Look how beautiful the deck chairs when the lightings shine on it. When actually in reality, it is the Starry Night prints on it. But kind of expensive at SGD 85, don't you think? Anyway, you get to sit on these deck chairs in this big hall where you watch the show.

After the VR experience, there is a coloring corner where you can express your artistic side of yourself. They have different pieces of his paintings for you to work on. I chose the Bedroom at Arles while my bestie chose the Starry Night. And thereafter, you can paste your piece on the wall too. Like a wall of fame (or coloring).

Came to the end of the exhibition, which took us about one and a half hours for the entire experience. You will be led to the gift shop and café where they sell the Van Gogh merchandises and also for you to rest your feet, and have a Van Gogh theme coffee and dessert available. Everything seems quite expensive though.

Entrance and Exit of the exhibition

If you want more of the Van Gogh Singapore Exhibition, watch my video on Youtube now! This shall be kept as a good memory for me to watch over and over again in the future. I found my love for some of his works like Bedroom at Arles, The Starry Night, Wheatfield with Crows, and Sunflower Series. How about you?

Remember to include the VR Experience when you book your tickets online. Although it is a short 10-11 minutes experience but I think is worth it. Please turn your chair during the VR Experience and not your head to see 360° of his paintings. You really feel like you are walking into his world of paintings. Enjoy!
