Day Out with the Bestie | Orchard Food Trail Highlights (YT Vlog)
It seems like an annual thing for my bestie and I to take leave and enjoy a day out, be it window shopping or food. More like a Tai Tai Wanna-be Day Out. Dress up a little and bring our precious bags out for some air and sunshine. For our previous day out, click here.
First stop early in the morning: BACHA COFFEE AT ION ORCHARD!
Loved being an early bird because no queues and I personally hate being in a queue for food. And we can sit there for as long as we want (unless there is a time limit). I considered this meal as our brunch because we came with empty stomach for this meal and it should last us till tea time at least. And it really did, even when we shared.
French Omelette with Confit Mushroom in Romesco Sauce $28
Other than a perfect outlook of the omelette, the taste was mediocre (it has cheese in it) but fed me with my needed protein for the week. Super light dish to begin the day for window shopping later.
Croissant with Truffle Mushroom and Roquette Salad Cherry Tomato in Vinaigrette $20 👍
This is more worthy because of the truffle mushroom within the crispy, flaky croissant. Light truffle taste but was definite. Bestie loved the salad dressing thou (vinaigrette) that has the lemony taste.
Yellow Leopard Coffee $11
Ordered a pot of Yellow Leopard Coffee $11. A morning coffee which is composed of African and South American beans.
Added their stiff peak cream and sugar, it suits my taste bud. Unlike tea where I can have it at its origin, I need sweetening up a little for coffee (and I'm not a coffee person btw). Just like the Lattes that I would go for. Bestie said it has that chocolatey taste that comes after. Ohh... anything chocolatey my favourite. But I still prefer the enhanced version with cream and sugar. Haha...
By the time we are done with one round of window shopping, it was almost tea time. Time flies faster when we are not working. Why is that so? Sighz. We started walking from ION to Takashimaya, and to Paragon and back to ION. So alluring ya ION Orchard!
Pitstop for a drink at Coffeebean Wisma (just beside ION) before we headed for high tea at TWG. The same place a year ago on our day out but it was their breakfast. If you don't understand why we still drink here and not go straight for TWG, it is because high tea starts at 2pm. Lazy to walk, then just chill here at Coffeebean.
My favourite Black Forest $9.50 is back in the menu! Super loving it. I don't do whipped cream because too fattening for me. Not forgetting that cherry that comes with every order! Ahhh... satisfying.
And we end our day at TWG ION ORCHARD for a Parisian High Tea for 2. Bestie likes it because more on the savoury side except for the cake I got. Nevertheless, it was worth it. Takeout the muffins because need to control our intake even when we are enjoying our day out together. Hahaha... I insist on that.
Bestie regretted not choosing scones and instead, got ourselves muffins. And she hated bananas. Hahaha... What a waste as she could have go with their whipped cream and jelly, which she commented was good. Just like the one at Bacha Coffee. Okay now I know she is a cream person. But the taste must hit her spot yo. She is the real picky foodie.
Croque Salmon
Thumbs up for their Croque Salmon. Toasty on top and so flavourful. Perfect balance in taste. Not forgetting the greens to complement.
The Savoury in bite size
The Sweet with 2 layers of Choc cream
And as usual, we start from lower tier (savoury) and then upper tier (sweet). That's the rule and I abide to that strictly since that is what I learnt. Paired with our Darjeeling Black Tea and Heart of Happiness Tea (wait for the flower to blossom, haha). The colour contrast is obvious (black tea vs white tea) and so is the taste.
Today we each spent $100 on average and all on food. Upgraded from 2022, our spending increased because of 8% GST and/or price increase. Get use to it! Just do such indulgence once in a blue moon. Not so heart pain at least.
